How Woodfield Is Funded

Woodfield Animal Sanctuary does not receive regular government funding, local authority funding, or large corporate sponsorships.
Instead, the care of every animal here — from feed and bedding, to veterinary treatment, emergency rescues and long-term rehabilitation — is funded almost entirely through public donations made via our social media platforms.
Simply put:
Woodfield exists because of the people who follow, share, comment and donate online.
Social media is our lifeline
From the very beginning, social media has played a vital role in Woodfield’s journey.
It allows us to:
- Share real-time updates on rescues and welfare cases
- Show complete transparency in how donations are used
- Educate the public about animal welfare issues
- Reach people far beyond our local area
- Fundraise quickly when emergencies arise
Every post you see — whether it’s a rescue story, a progress update, or a simple photo from the field — directly helps keep Woodfield running.
Facebook: our main platform
While we use several social media platforms, Facebook is our primary and most important channel.
It is where:
- The majority of our supporters follow our work
- Most donations are made
- Emergency appeals gain traction
- Our animals’ stories are told in full
Facebook allows us to connect daily with our community and keep everyone informed about exactly what is happening here at Woodfield.
Without Facebook — and the people behind the screens — Woodfield simply could not function in the way it does today.
Every donation makes a difference
Donations received through our social media platforms help cover:
- Feed and haylage
- Bedding and stable supplies
- Veterinary and farrier costs
- Emergency call-outs and transport
- Facility maintenance and safety equipment
- Long-term care for permanent residents
There is no “small” donation here.
