Caring for over 50 horses and ponies is a responsibility that never stops. They need feeding every day, regardless of the weather. They need bedding, water, fencing, safe fields, and constant monitoring. Many require ongoing veterinary care, specialist farrier work, dental treatment, and careful management due to past neglect, abuse, or trauma.

For the animals who arrive with us, rescue is only the beginning. Healing takes time, patience, and resources. Some will remain with us for life because their physical or emotional scars mean the outside world is simply too much for them. Others, after careful rehabilitation, may go on to a new home — but even then, our responsibility does not end. Every animal remains under our protection, with a lifelong safety net should they ever need to return.

This commitment is not theoretical — it carries real, ongoing costs.

When winter arrives, those costs increase dramatically. Feed bills rise. Bedding usage increases. Veterinary issues become more frequent. Machinery, fencing, and infrastructure are under constant pressure. Emergencies don’t wait for “better timing,” and animals cannot be asked to go without.
