OUR SERVICES
At Woodfield Animal Sanctuary, we operate a 24/7 on-call emergency rescue service, responding to urgent welfare situations whenever they arise — day or night.
Our emergency response is delivered by trained and experienced staff, qualified in live animal capture, immobilisation, and recovery, allowing us to safely and professionally intervene in high-risk, time-critical situations.
We respond to/offer:
Using our established contacts, we work alongside and in support of police, veterinary professionals, welfare organisations, and relevant officials, offering our specialist emergency services where required to help safeguard animal welfare and public safety.
Specialist immobilisation support
Where necessary, we use approved chemical immobilisation techniques in collaboration with our veterinary professionals, carried out by our trained and qualified staff, to safely sedate and immobilise animals. This enables controlled management of high-risk or distressed animals while minimising stress and preventing injury during rescue, recovery, and transport.
Abandoned animals
Horses and ponies left without adequate care, supervision, or provision for their basic welfare needs.
Immediate welfare concerns
Animals showing signs of neglect, injury, illness, or rapid deterioration where urgent intervention is required.
Unsafe or high-risk environments
Animals trapped, loose, injured, or located in areas posing a risk to themselves or the public.
Highway and roadside incidents
Loose, injured, or distressed animals on or near roads, verges, or public highways requiring immediate containment, recovery, and safe removal.
Assisting police and authorities
Supporting police, highways, and relevant agencies with animal-related emergencies requiring professional handling, recovery, or welfare assessment.
Every call-out is approached with the animal’s welfare as the absolute priority. Our team is trained to work calmly and effectively under pressure, ensuring animals are handled safely and with the least possible stress.

As a charity, our emergency response service is resource-dependent. Availability is subject to staffing, space, and welfare considerations at the time of the call. All situations are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
